I am always looking for graduate and senior undergraduate students with exceptional talent and drive. The following skills are required to work on research projects in the DSR lab:
- Background Knowledge: CIS4301/COP5725, Information and Database Systems I or equivalent is a pre-requisite. Preferably you have taken one of the following courses: CAP4770/5771 Introduction to Data Science, COP6726 Database System Implementation.
- Strong Programming Skills: Virtually everything I do involves implementing algorithms, building systems, and evaluating them. Good understanding of database systems and their internals is a major plus.
- Good Algorithmic and Analytical Skills: Most of my projects involve data analysis and statistical machine learning, both of which require ability to understand statistics, probability and algorithms. Most projects lead to creating new algorithms and applying variations of classical models and algorithms.
- Good English Speaking and Writing Skills
I prefer to recruit students from my classes (e.g., CAP4770/5771, CIS4301/COP5725). Your best chance to be selected is to impress me in class.
